How do I know which size I need?
Lampshades are measured and sized according to: 1. width across the top 2. width across the bottom 3. height down the side For example, 10" top, 16" bottom, 12" side. We quote measurements as: TOP X BOTTOM X SIDE.

Can I use a clip-on shade with Compact Flourescent bulbs?
Yes, however, you will need to use a "torpedo" bulb and not the more common "spiral" bulbs. These are readily available at hardware and lighting stores and come in both candelabra bases (small base) and edison bases (typical light bulb)

I am using regular incandescent bulbs will the clip-on shade clip onto this bulb?
No, however, you can purchase candelabra bulbs with Edison bases. A light bulb base is the part of the bulb that screws into the socket. An Edison base is what standard light bulbs have. Just look for "candelabra" style bulbs with "Edison" bases at your hardware, home improvement or lighting store. They are readily available.

What is the maximum wattage I can use with a shade?
That depends on the distance between the light bulb and the shade. If the distance from widest part of the bulb to the inside of the shade = 1 5/8" then the maximum wattage would be 25 watts. 2" = 40 watts. 2.5" = 60 watts. 2 7/8" = 75 watts. 3.5" = 100 watts. 4.75" = 150 watts . 6" = 200 watts. 7.25" = 250 watts
